I had several people ask what a typical master bathroom remodel is costing in July 2023 and they ALL were dumbfounded at my response; $70-$80k on average.

Of course, this is with all the bells & whistles you come to expect like full tile shower with multiple wall niches, multiple shower heads, custom glass shower walls/doors, large double vanities and updated lighting... but the reality is that it's almost impossible to get a master bathroom remodel for less than $50k right now which was closer to the average price of a full kitchen remodel just 4-5 years ago.

So, what drives to the higher end of that range vs. the lower end? Here are some things that may increase your remodeling costs:

1 - relocation or addition of plumbing, such as your toilet or shower/tub drains

2 - being on the 2nd flr (or first floor with finished basement) - access to plumbing will need to be obtained through the flooring, which will require some removal & some patching

3 - Accessibility to the space - how easy will it be to get debris out of the bathroom and to a dumpster? How easy will it be to bring 8' sheets of drywall into the space?

4 - Custom cabinetry - there's a lot to consider with this one (see previous post)

5 - Custom tile and glass - specialty tile or patterns will increase your installation costs, as will a custom tile shower base or custom glass for the enclosure
